Chatham Township InformationChatham Township operates under the Township form of government which is the oldest form of municipal government in New Jersey. Voters elect the township committee's five members. Each committee member serves a three-year staggered term. The mayor is then elected for a one-year term. The Mayor serves as the chair of the Township Committee and has powers vested in the mayor's office by general law. Township Committee meetings in Chatham Township are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7:30 PM, at the Municipal Building.
