TRANSPORTATION

Chatham is 25 miles west from New York City and has various modes of transportation. For those who prefer to drive, Chatham has easy access to Route 24, I-78, and I-287. There is also limousine service to Newark Airport, the third busiest airport in the nation. Residents also have quick access to public transportation such as a commuter train service to Morristown, Hoboken and to New York Penn Station. In addition, Chatham has NJ Transit busses to Summit, Morristown, Newark and New York City.

Chatham Township Information

Chatham Township operates under the Township form of government which is the oldest form of municipal government in New Jersey. Voters elect the township committee's five members. Each committee member serves a three-year staggered term. The mayor is then elected for a one-year term. The Mayor serves as the chair of the Township Committee and has powers vested in the mayor's office by general law. Township Committee meetings in Chatham Township are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7:30 PM, at the Municipal Building.
